Chicago, October 12, 2009– NOI Strategies, providing consulting, technology, and operational support services to the real estate industry, today announced that Tamir Shafer has joined as Managing Director of Treasury and Banking Services. Shafer is a 16-year veteran of corporate treasury and treasury operations with global investment firms including Goldman Sachs, Lehman Brothers, and Morgan Stanley. He most recently led the U.S. Fixed Income Client Services team at Goldman Sachs.
“NOI Strategies recognizes the importance of cash management, debt management and treasury processes in today’s financial environment,” said Glenn Murray, Founder and Chief Marketing Officer at NOI Strategies. “Tamir’s deep expertise will help real estate clients apply some of the same rigorous treasury and banking practices in-place at leading financial institutions. This includes the development of, and strict adherence to, a risk mitigation strategy associated with company-wide cash disbursements. “
Under Shafer’s leadership, NOI Strategies will focus its treasury and banking services on two primary areas:
- Treasury operations processing—supplying clients with an objective, comprehensive analysis of current operations related to debt management, cash management, bank account administration, bank relationship management, cash forecasting, investments, and bank reconciliations; and providing recommendations for process, technology, and operational improvements.
- Bank fee audits—conducting a broad review of historical fees and earnings across banking relationships and developing recommendations that minimize fees and maximize returns on cash balances.
According to Shafer, “these services can be viewed as both offensive and defensive. Proactively evaluating the fees charged by banking partners can drive hard dollars to the bottom line. On the other hand, optimizing debt management practices in concert with liquidity management and the availability of debt information will mitigate risk going forward”.
Shafer’s previous roles include leading the USD Cash Management team at Goldman Sachs, where he oversaw a daily cash flow of $250 billion and introduced process and technology improvements that increased return on the company’s end-of-day cash position by 30%.
“Tamir’s background shows an integrated understanding of treasury processes and technology that fits well with our approach at NOI Strategies,” Murray said.
